When an electron moves towards a negatively charged large plane metal sheet and perpendicular to it, it will experience an attractive force due to the negative charge of the metal sheet. This force will act opposite to the direction of motion of the electron.

As the electron moves closer to the metal sheet, the force acting on it will increase, decelerating the electron until it comes to a stop. Eventually, it will settle on the surface of the metal sheet due to the attractive force.
