The fusion of chromite ore with sodium carbonate in the presence of air leads to the formation of products A and B along with the evolution of \(CO_2\). The sum of spin-only magnetic moment values of A and B is ___ B.M. (Nearest integer)

Best answer

Correct answer is : 6

\(4FeCr_2O_4 + 8Na_2CO_3 + 7O_2 \rightarrow \underset{A}{8Na_2 CrO_4} + \underset {B}{2Fe_2O_3} + 8CO_2\)

Spin only magnetic moment

For \(Na_2 CrO_4\) \(\mu _ B = 0\)
For \(Fe_2O_3\) \(\mu _ B = 5.9\)

sum = 5.9
