Given below are two statements :

Statement (I) : The mean free path of gas molecules is inversely proportional to square of molecular diameter.

Statement (II) : Average kinetic energy of gas molecules is directly proportional to absolute temperature of gas.

In the light of the above statements, choose the correct answer from the options given below :

(1) Statement I is false but Statement II is true.

(2) Statement I is true but Statement II is false.

Correct option is :  (4) Both Statement I and Statement II are true.

\( \text { State }-1 \text { : Mean free path } \lambda=\frac{1}{\sqrt{2} \pi \mathrm{d}^2 \mathrm{n}}\)

\(\text { using } \mathrm{d}=2 \mathrm{r} \)

\(\lambda= \frac{1}{4\sqrt{2}\pi r^2n}\)

\(\lambda \propto \frac{1}{\mathrm{r}^2} \)

\( \text { State }-2: \quad \mathrm{E}=\frac{3}{2} \mathrm{kT}\)

\(\mathrm{E} \propto \mathrm{T}\)
