Assertion(A) : When the capacitive reactance is less than the inductive reactance in a series LCR circuit, the emf leads the current.

Reason(R) : The angle by which the alternating voltage leads the alternating current in a series LCR circuit is given by tanθ = (XL - XC)/R 

(a) Both A and R are true and R is the correct explanation of A.

(c) A is true but R is false.
