One morning, Mahadevi Verma the narrator of the story 'Gillu' saw that two crows were poking their beaks at the floweripets. She went there and recovered a baby squired from them. He was badly wounded. She washed his wound and applied penicillin on it. She tried to feed him by putting a thin cotton wool wick, dipped in milk to his mouth. The result was that he looked better and able to open his mouth. After several hours the narrator managed to pour one drop of water in his mouth.
