The incorrect relation for a diamagnetic material (all the symbols carry their usual meaning and \(\varepsilon\) is a small positive number) is

(1) \(\mu\ <\ \mu_0\)

(2) \( 0\ \le\ \mu_r\ <\ 1\)

(3) \(–1 \le\ \chi < 0\)

(4) \(1 < \mu_ r < 1 + \varepsilon\)

Best answer

Correct option is :  (4) \(1 < \mu_ r < 1 + \varepsilon\)

For diamagnetic material,

\(0 \le \mu_r \le 1\)

\(\chi = \mu_r - 1\)

\(\Rightarrow - 1\le \chi<0\)

\(\mu_r = \frac{\mu}{\mu_0}\)

\(\Rightarrow \mu< \mu_0\ (\because \mu_r\ < 1)\)
