Activity: Effect of Temperature on Dissolution of Table sugar in Water

Required materials: Borosil glass, RO water, Table sugar, Thermometer (don’t use clinical thermometer), Stopwatch and a mixer rod (spoon).

Activity:

Step 1: Take a borosil glass and add 100 ml water whose temperature is maintained at 30 oC (check with the help of thermometer). Now add 3 spoons full table sugar in the water and mix slowly with the help of a mixer. Start the stopwatch and note down the time required for complete dissolution of sugar in water.

Step 2: Repeat Step 1 with the water maintained at a temperature of 40 oC and 50 oC and note down the time required for complete dissolution of sugar.

Note: The speed of mixing must be the same for all three solutions.
