These are very hard except sodium These are soft except diamond
These are malleable and ductile These are brittle and can break down into pieces
These are shiny These are non-lustrous except iodine
Electropositive in nature Electronegative in nature
Have high densities Have low densities

Difference Between Element and Compound-

Elements Compounds
Contains only one kind of atoms. Contains more than one kind of atoms.
It is a pure substance. It is not a pure substance.
Elements cannot be broken down further into simpler substances by chemical methods. Compounds can be broken down further into simpler substances by chemical methods.
Elements have definite physical and chemical properties. Compounds have definite physical and chemical properties.
Examples for elements: Oxygen(O), Hydrogen(H), Chlorine(Cl), Sodium(Na) etc. Examples for compounds: Sodium chloride(NaCl), Water(H2O) etc.
