On the basis of molecular orbital theory  explain why Be2 molecule does not exist?

The atomic number of Be is 4, so 8 electrons will occupy in its molecular orbital. The molecular orbital configuration of Be2

molecule is  KK O2s2, σ* 2s2 

Bond order = 1/2(2 − 2) = 0 

Since bond order of Be, is zero, so this molecule does not exist.
