Doddadevaraja Wodeyar was the 13th king of the Mysore kingdom from 1659 until 1673. Devaraja Wodeyar I, the fourth son of Prince Devarajendra Wodeyary and his second wife, Kempamamba Ammani Avaru.
In 1638, the year of his cousin Kanthirava Narasaraja I's incumbency, he was imprisoned at Hengul Fort along with his father. On 28 July 1659, he was adopted and appointed heir apparent, with the title Yuvaraja. He succeeded his cousin on 31 July 1659 on the death of the latter, and on 19 August 1659, he was installed on the throne of Mysore.
Devaraja Wodeyar died on 11 February 1673 at Chiknayakanhalli. The northernmost outpost of his territory had expanded considerably at the time of his death. They spread to present-day Dharapuram in the south of Coimbatore, Sakrepatna in the west, and Salem in the east.
The last of the Vijayanagara rulers, Sriranga III, sought refuge in Bednur in Seringapatam during his rule. Soon afterward, Seringapatam was attacked by Sivappa Nayaka of Kelladi with great force and with the apparent intention of restoring the rule of Vijayanagara at Seringapatam.
