Using the rules for differentiation, we get:

dy/dx = - (x-3)x2 / (x+1)5

y = (x3)/(1+x)4

taking log both sides

log y =  3 logx - 4 log(1+x)

differentiating w.r.to x

(1/y) dy/dx = 3/x - 4/(1+x)

(1/y) dy/dx = (3-x)/[x(1+x)]

dy/dx = [(3-x)y]/[x(1+x)]

dy/dx =[(3-x)x3]/[x(1+x)(1+x)4]

dy/dx =[(3-x)x2]/[(1+x)5]
