The percentage change in the pressure of a given mass of a gas filled in a container at constant temperature=100%

Find the percentage change in its volume=?

According to Charles and Boyle's law

PV=constant

If pressure increases, the volume decreases

Initial   pressure    Finalpressure

100                                 200

P                                      ?(P1)

∴Finalpressure=200P/100

If initia lvolume=V

Final volume=V1

PV=P1V1

P×V=200P×V1/100

V1=100V/200

V1=1/2V

∴Percentagechange=(V−V1)×100/V=((V−1/2V)/2)×100=(1/2V)/V×100=50%

=50% decreases
