Hey everyone, I’m curious about drain cleaners. Are they acidic or alkaline? How does their pH level affect their ability to clear clogs?

Also, which type is safer for home use, and what precautions should be taken when using them?

Looking forward to your insights. Thanks!

Hey there!

Great question! Drain cleaners can be acidic (pH 1-3) or alkaline (pH 12-14). Acidic cleaners are great for tough clogs but can be harsh on pipes. Alkaline cleaners, on the other hand, are generally safer for your plumbing and work by breaking down grease and fats.

While both types can be effective, alkaline cleaners are usually safer for your pipes. Just be sure to follow the instructions carefully!

Hope this helps!
