(i) Protective Colloid

A protective colloid is a lyophilic colloid that when present in small quantities protect lyophobic colloids from precipitation under the coagulating action of electrolytes.

(ii) Zeta Potential

The potential difference between the fixed layer and the diffused layer of opposite charges around colloidal particles is called zeta potential.

(iii) Emulsifying Agent

The emulsifying agent forms an interfacial film between suspended particles and the medium to stabilise the emulsion
