For the term 2P1/2, l = 1, j = 1/2 , s = 1/2 and g = 2/3 . For the term 2S1/2, l = 0, j = 1/2 , s = 1/2 and g = 2. The energy levels and splitting of lines in sodium are shown in Fig. 2.7.
