Here, u is positive (upwards) and a is negative (downwards). So, first we will find t0 , the time when velocity becomes zero.

(a) t < t0 . Therefore, distance and displacement are equal. 

(b) t = t0 . So, again distance and displacement are equal.

(c) t > t0 . Hence, d > s
