A satellite is moving in a circular orbit around the earth. The total energy of the satellite is E = – 2×105 J. The amount of energy to be imparted to the satellite to transfer it to a circular orbit where its potential energy is U = –2 × 105 J is equal to _______.

Tf = 105 Joule

∴ Ef = Uf + Tf

= –2 × 105 + 105 = –105 Joule

∴ Required energy = Ef – Ei

= –105 – (–2×105 )
