So, when equal volumes are mixed, V1 = V2 = V and m1 = Vρ1 and m2 = Vρ2 , then 

When equal masses are mixed, m1 = m2 = m and V1 = (m/ρ1 ) and V2 = (m/ρ2 ), then

Solving Eqs. (1) and (2) for ρ1 and ρ2 , we find specific gravities of metals are 2 and 6.
