A small rectangular wire frame falls freely in the space between the large poles of a strong electromagnet (Fig.). What are the directions of the currents induced in the frame as the centre of the frame passes through positions A, B, and C? How will the frame move at these times?

As the centre of the frame passes through position A, the current flows counterclockwise, (as seen from the north pole). As it passes through position B, there will be no induced current. At position C, the current flows clockwise.
