An ideal gas is originally confined to a volume V1 in an insulated container of volume V1 + V2. The remainder of the container is evacuated. The portion is then removed and the gas expands to fill the entire container. If the initial temperature of the gas was T, what is the final temperature. Also predict qualitatively, the entropy change of system, surroundings and the universe.

This is a process of adiabatic free expansion of an ideal gas. The internal energy does not change thus the temperature also stays the same, i.e., the final temperature is still T.
