Two electric lamps A and B radiate the same power. Their filaments have the same dimensions, and have emissivities eA and eB. Their surface temperatures are TA and TB. The ratio TA/TB will be equal to

(a) (eB/eA)1/4

(b) (eB/eA)1/2

(c) (eA/eB)1/2

Correct Answer is: (a) (eB/eA)1/4

The power radiated by a filament is P = e(σT4)(area), where e = emissivity, σ = Stefan–Boltzmann constant and T = surface temperature.

Here, eT4 = constant

or eATA4 = eBTB4.
