The distance covered by a body in nth second can be found by subtracting the distance covered by a body in (n - 1) second from the distance covered by the body in n second.

Distance covered by a body in time 't' second is

S = ut + 1/2 at2 .......(i)

when, t = n, s = Sn

From equation (i), we have

Sn = un +1/2 an2......(ii)

When t = (n - 1) s = Sn-1

From equation (i) we have

Sn-1 = u/(n - 1) + 1/2 a(n- 1)2 .....(iii)

Therefore, the distance covered in nth second is,
