An infinite ladder is constructed with 1Ω and 2Ω resistors as shown in figure (32-E22). (a) Find the effective resistance between the points A and B. (b) Find the current that passes through the 2Ω resistor nearest to the battery.

a) Let the equation resistance of the combination be R.

Potential between A and B

3.1 + 2.i = 6

=> 3 + 2i = 6 => 2i = 3

=> i = 1.5 a
