Length of the potentiometer wire is 10 m. A standard cell of 1.1 V is balanced at 8.8 m length. How much maximum potential difference can be measured with the help of this potentiometer?

Potential gradient (k) = \(\frac{V}{l}=\frac{1.1 V}{8.8}\)
= 0.125 V/ m
Maximum potential difference
V = kl = 0.125 × 10 = 12.5 volt
