A tangent galvanometer shows a deflection of 45° when 10mA of current is passed through it. If the horizontal component of the earth's magnetic field is BH = 3.6 x 10-5T and radius of the coil is 10cm, find the number of turns in the coil.

We know BHμ0in/2r

Give : BH = 3.6 × 10–5θ = 45°

i = 10mA = 10–2A  tanθ = 1

n = ? r = 10cm = 0.1m

= 0.5732 × 103 ≈ 573 turns
