Best answer

2KI + Cl2 ➝ 2KCl + I2
Oxidation state of of I in KI ⇒ 1 + x = 0
x = -1
Oxidation state of I in I= 0
Oxidation state of Cl in Cl2 = 0
Oxidation state of Cl in KCl ⇒ 1 + x = 0
x = -1

Since, in this reaction Cl2 is reduced to KCl which is due to KI So, KI is reducing agent in the reaction.
