A child is very innocent and pure like a seed. His first guides are his parents. Generally parents avoid revealing anything bad before their wards. Children are quick observers of the minutest thing. The author has clearly written this fact – “It is exhausting to follow rules dictated by parental guide books all the time, but Tao Ying is determined to be an ideal mother and creates a perfect example for her son to look up to.” So far as an adult’s views are concerned they are enslaved to their lust, greed and selfesteem.
बच्चा बीज की तरह से अबोध और शुद्ध होता है। उसके पहले गाइड उसके माता-पिता होते हैं। माँ-बाप अधिकतर अपने बच्चों के सामने बुरी (गलत) बातें उजागर नहीं करते हैं। बच्चे चीजों को बहुत बारीकी से देखते हैं। लेखक ने इस तथ्य को स्पष्ट शब्दों में लिखा है – हर समय माँ-बाप के लिए निर्देशन पुस्तिका के नियमों का पालन करना बड़ी परेशानी वाला होता है परन्तु टाओ यिंग एक आदर्श माँ बनने के लिए दृढ़ संकल्प है। तथा अपने बेटे के अनुकरण हेतु अच्छे उदाहरण प्रस्तुत करती है। जहाँ तक प्रौढों के विचारों का प्रश्न है, वे अपनी लालसा, लालच तथा आत्मसम्मान के गुलाम होते हैं।
