What is blood pressure? What is the difference between systolic and diastolic blood pressure?

The pressure exerted by arteries to the blood flow is called blood pressure. In a healthy person, the blood pressure is 80/120 mm Hg. This figure shows two types of blood pressure, i.e. systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure.

Systolic Blood Pressure Diastolic Blood Pressure
This is the pressure during contraction of left ventricle. This is the pressure during relaxation of left ventricle.
This is on higher side, i.e. 120 mm Hg This is on lower side, i.e. 80 mm Hg
