Development of Women and Children in Rural Areas Scheme was introduced in 1982 – 85 as a sub – scheme of Integrated Rural Development Program (IRDP) at district level.

The main objectives of this scheme at micro level are:

2. To involve rural women and children to realize their wants like hygienic environment, clean drinking water, nutritious food, schooling facilities, etc.

3. To provide opportunities for income generating activities for individuals through a group of women by building the existing skills and occupations, utilization of locally available resources and providing suitable marketing facilities.

4. Self subsistence, even after help is withdrawn.
