Dear friends,
water is necessary for our survival. If there is no water, our life’s activities will come to a standstill and we will have to face many problems. Due to deforestation, there have been scanty rains. And we have little water in the wells, tanks and rivers, etc. Whatever water there has been in the natural resources is evaporating and drying up everyday. In India, we have rainy season and we get water in this season. Whatever water we get in this season is to be used for the rest of the year. If we get scanty rain, our ponds, rivers, wells and reservoirs will remain dry. We won’t get enough water for the remaining year. Consequently, the water level is declining day, by day which is a matter of great concern for all.
Due to the shortage of water and the gradual decline of the underground water level, we won’t get sufficient water for irrigation. The tubewells and handpumps will not be able to supply sufficient water. There are some steps which we can take up to raise the level of groundwater. We can build underground tanks and store the water collected from our roof during the rains. We can recharge our wells and tubewells by making percolation tank near them. As the water level is going down; we should use water carefully. Thank you for giving a good listening.
