Gender ratio in urban areas has been higher compared to rural areas. Female foeticide is considered to be the main reason for an adverse gender ratio against women. Government has been making many efforts to prevent female foeticide and to ensure birth and longevity of the girl child. But this problem can only be tackled through social awareness and through an educated society.
