Suppose ABC be an isosceles right triangle in which

AB = BC = a

Area = \(\frac { 1 }{ 2 }\) x base x altitude

200 = \(\frac { 1 }{ 2 }\) x a x a

200 = \(\frac { 1 }{ 2 }\) x a2

⇒ a2 = 2 x 200

⇒ a2 = 400

⇒ a = 20 cm

i.e. AB = BC = 20 cm
