Braithwaite believed in the British way of life for the long twenty-eight years.The same ideal supported him when he was in high school. In his school days he had to work hard to make the grade. The same ideal also helped him in college and university also. So, he never thought of acquiring the American citizenship.
ब्रिटिश मानसिकता वाले लोगों का विश्वास ब्रिटिश जीवन शैली में था और वे अपने जीवन के आरंभिक 28 वर्षों तक इसी के बारे में सोचते रहे। इसी विचारधारा ने उन्हें उच्च विद्यालय के दिनों में भी सहयोग दिया। अपने विद्यालय के दिनों में वे अच्छे ग्रेड पाने के लिए कठोर मेहनत करते थे। उनका यही विचार कॉलेज और युनिवर्सिटी के दिनों में भी रहा। यही वजह है कि उसने कभी भी अमेरिकी नागरिकता लेने के बारे में नहीं सोचा।
