The basic principles of health education are described below:
1. The programmes of health education should be according to the interest, attitudes, health status and environment of children so that they get proper knowledge and implement them in case of need.
2. In order to impart practical knowledge to the children such programmes should be organised in which more and more children can participate physically. There should not be pick and choose method. In other words, all should get a chance to participate in the health related programmes.
3. The programmes of health education should not be limited only to schools rather they should be made available even for parents. So that they also are trained to take care of their wards regarding their health problems.
4. The programmes related to health should be educative, interesting and recreational. Such programmes will create deeper impact on the minds of the people.
5. The health programmes should be constructed keeping in view the physical, mental, social and spiritual condition of students.
6. Health programmes should be prepared according to the age and sex of the people.
7. The methods of imparting health education should be simple and clear.
8. Health education programmes should be easily comprehended by every child. This depends upon the way in which these programmes are prepared.
9. Health education should be imparted through films, maps, charts and photographs.
10.Good habits of children should always be appreciated through films so that the children could mend their ways.
