Oceans are spread on 3/4th part of the earth’s surface. Mainly there are four Oceans on the earth,
- Pacific Ocean
- Atlantic Ocean
- Indian Ocean and
- Arctic Ocean
Their utility is mentioned below :
- Oceans have a lot of living organisms, mainly fishes.
- Fishes from the ocean are the main source of food.
- Oceans are a large deposit of minerals.
- The coastal areas of the ocean have a lot of possibility of petroleum reserves.
- Oceans are cheapest mode of transportation. Import and export through oceanic routes is the cheapest.
- Similar to lithosphere, the oceans also have mountains, plateaus, plains and gorges.
