India is richly endowed with a variety of minerals and diverse geological formations.
The following two points illustrate this :
(i) Development of Mining: India has huge population and mining can be an important activity to absorb large labour force. India needs to develop efficient techniques to avoid waste and to work the mines economically.
(ii) Political Influence: Existence of mineral resources was one of the greatest factors responsible for emergence of imperialism and colonization.
