If neutral litmus solution is added to sodium acetate solution, what will you observe and why?

Sodium acetate upon hydrolysis forms NaOH (strong base) and CH3COOH (weak acid).

The resulting solution is thus basic in nature. It will turn red litmus blue and will have no effect on blue litmus solution.
