If P is a point on the ellipse x2/16 + y2/25 = 1  whose foci are S and S′, then PS + PS′ = 8.

As the sum of distances of any point P on the ellipse from the two foci is equal to the length of the major axis.

Major Axis = 2b = 10

b = 5

S & S’ are foci, then PS + PS’ = 5 + 5 = 10 ≠ 8
