Balanced forces Unbalanced forces
1. Balanced forces acts on an object in opposite directions and are equal in strength. They do not cause a change in the speed of a moving object. 1. when two unbalanced forces are exerted in opposite directions, their combined forces is equal to the difference between the two forces.
2. There is no net motion of the object on which the forces is being applied. 2. There is net motion in the direction of the applied forces which has greater magnitude.
3. For example: An object at rest. 3. For example: In tug of wire, unbalanced forces is applied by the teams.
