The freshwater animals do not reabsorb water through their excretory system because in the case of freshwater animals, large amount of water is taken up through their skin and mouth.
The water content of the body is maintained by getting rid of excess water through the excretory system. Marine animals need to conserve water that's why water is reabsorbed by the excretory system in marine animals.
