–1 ≤ 2x + 4 < 5  ⇒  –1 – 4 ≤ 2x < 5 – 4 

⇒ –5 ≤ 2x < 1  ⇒ \(-\frac52≤x<\frac12\) 

⇒ x can take the values between \(-2\frac12\) and \(\frac12\) 

⇒ If x is an integer, then x = {–2, –1, 0}
