i.e., τ = Fd
where F = Force applied on a body, d is the ⊥ distance of the line of action of the force from the axis of rotation.
Mathematically in vector from., \(\vec{τ}\) may be expressed as
\(\vec{τ}\) = \(\vec{r}\times\vec{F}\)
i.e., it is cross produce of the position vector \(\vec{r}\) and force \(\vec{F}\)
i.e., Torque = force × lever arm.
