Using Pythagorous theorem:

(Hypothesis)² = (Base)² + (Altitude)²

(13)² = 5² + (Altitude)² 

(Altitude)² = 169 – 25 = 144 

Altitude = 12 cm 

Area of triangle = \(\frac{1}2\)(5 x 12)

= 30 cm²
