What is the angular speed of the minute hand of a clock? If the minute hand is 5 cm long. What is the linear speed of its tip ?

Given: Length of minute hand, r = 5 cm,

T = 60 min = 60 x 60 = 3600 s

To find: i. Angular speed (ω)

ii. Linear speed(v)

Formulae: i. ω = 2π/T  ii. v = rω

Calculation: From formula (i),

The minute hand of the clock has angular speed 1.74 x 10-3 rad/s and linear speed 8.7 x 10-5 m/s.
