Polyethylene can be produced from calcium carbide according to the following sequence of reactions
`CaC_(2)+H_(2)orarr CaO+HC-=CH`
`nHC-=CH+nH_(2) rarr(-CH_(2)-CH_(2)-)_(n)`
The mass of polyethylene which can be produced from `40.0 kg ` of `CaC_(2)` is
A. `6.75 kg`

Best answer
Correct Answer - b
`64` grams `CaC_(2)` gives `26 ` grams `HC-=CH`
So `64 kg CaC_(2)` gives `26kg" "HC-=CH`
So `40 kg" "CaC_(2)` gives `26 xx 40//64kg" "HC-=CH`
`=16.25 kg HC-=CH`
Now `26 kg HC-=CH` gives `28 kg ` polythene
So `16.25 kg HC^(@)CH` gives `28xx 16.25 // 26 kg `polythene
`=17.5 kg `
