`f(x)=4x+3` द्वारा प्रदत्त फलन `f:R rarr R` पर विचार कीजिए । सिद्ध कीजिए कि f व्युत्क्रमणीय है । f का प्रतिलोम फलन ज्ञात कीजिए ।

`f:R rarr R` में `f(x)=4x+3`
माना `x,y in R` तथा `f(x)=f(y)`
`rArr 4x+3=4y+3`
`rArr 4x=4y rArr x=y`
`:.f` एकैकी है ।
पुनः माना `f(x)=y` जहाँ `y in R`
`rArr 4x+3=y rArr 4x=y-3`
`rArr x=(y-3)/(4)`
अब प्रत्येक `y in R` के लिये `x=(y-3)/(4) in R` इस प्रकार है कि
`f(x)=f((y-3)/(4))=4((y-3)/(4))+3=y`
`:.f` आच्छादक है ।
अतः f एकैकी आच्छादक फलन है `rArr f` व्युत्क्रमणीय है । `" "` यही सिद्ध करना था ।
`:.f^(-1):R rarr R` इस प्रकार परिभाषित है कि `f^(-1)(y)=(y-3)/(4)`.
