Completely anhydrous acetic acid exists as a dimer in the vapour phase, due to intermolecular hydrogen bonding. Therefore, its molecular mass is 120 amu. However, in aqueous solution, it dissociates to release `H^(+)` and no longer behaves as a dimer.
