In an a.c. circuit the voltage applied is E = E0 sinωt. The resulting current in the circuit is I = I0sin(ωt - π/2). The power consumption in the circuit is given by

(a) P = 2E0I0

(b) P = (E0I0)/2

(c) =zero

Best answer

Correct Option(c) =zero

Explanation:

For given circuit, current is lagging the voltage by π/2, so the circuit is purely inductive and there is no power consumption in the circuit The work-done by the battery is stored as magnetic energy in the inductor.
