Correct Answer - Option 2 : 20

Calculation:

Shirley can buy 50 peaches or 40 kiwis.

Let the price of one peach be Rs. x

The total amount Shirley has = Rs.50x

∴ 40 kiwis cost 50x

∴ one kiwi costs 1.25x

10% of the total amount is retained for taxi fare = 10% of 50x

⇒ 5x

20 kiwis bought for 20 x 1.25x

⇒ 25x

Money left with Shirley = 50x – (Taxi fare) – (kiwis cost)

⇒ 50x – 5x – 25x

⇒ 20x

One Peach was for Rs.x.

∴ 20 peaches can be bought with Rs. 20x

Shirley bought 20 peaches.
