Definition:

Due to the Fringing effect, we observe a non-uniform electric field between the parallel plates of capacitors.

Conclusion:

The capacitance of parallel plate \(C = \frac{{A\epsilon}}{d}\) only when large A/d ratio present, because Fringing effect can be neglected for large A/d ratio.
